Foundations of Quantum Measurement Summer Lecture Series

August 3, 2023 - 1:00pm

Thursdays at 1 PM in 106 Allen Hall. Planned dates are June 29, July 6, 13, 20, 27, and August 3.

David Snoke will be giving a six-week series of lectures on foundations of quantum measurement, on Thursdays at 1 PM in 106 Allen Hall.

The lectures will assume quantitative knowledge of quantum mechanics at the level of second quantization. Topics will include: the Bloch sphere model for 2-level systems, the time evolution of the density matrix for quantum states, decoherence, the arrow of time in quantum mechanics, quantum trajectories, weak measurement theory, and various interpretations of QM including Copenhagen, pilot waves, many-worlds, and spontaneous collapse.

All are welcome to attend. This is not for credit.

Registration is not required but it is recommended to notify Dr. Snoke via snoke@pitt.edu if you plan to attend.
