Research Statement

My research is in the field of ultrafast surface science. I focus on applying the interferometric time-resolved multi-photon photoemission (ITR-mPP) method to study the coherent electronic response of metal surfaces under optical excitation and to record their ultrafast dynamics with sub-femtosecond precision. Although the electronic and optical properties of metals have been studied for decades, their ultrafast coherent response is only starting to be accessible to experiment. Nevertheless, metals are relatively simple materials, so the fundamental investigations of their optical response form as stepping stones for studying the electronic structure and dynamical process in more complicated materials with more strongly correlated electron interactions.
